LookUP
We need help!
Ideally, we would
both give 100% to our marriage, 100% of the time. We would always be happy and kind, well-adjusted and patient. That is not going to happen.
There are moments when we are selfish, immature and weak, and other moments
when he is not at his best. Times when we struggle for the strength to care and
connect, when frankly we would rather wallow in self-pity, eat brownies, and
take a nap.
Often, our
first impulse is to dump our grievances and frustrations on a family member or
vent to a friend. If we are feeling particularly immature, we might yell at our
spouse or cry in an attempt to call attention to our misery. Rarely does this
solve our problems.
When we are
worried and overwhelmed
When we are discouraged and disconnected
Even, when
we are happy and content
Remember that
God is the source of all help and happiness!
“We must have the faith to LookUP and the
courage to follow His direction.”
Carl B. Cook
Pray for
direction and comfort. Pray to forgive and be forgiven. Pray to know how you
can serve your husband. Pray that your heart will be softened, that you will see
the best in him and love him with your whole heart. Pray for wisdom. Pray for
peace. Pray with humility and then act in faith on the answers that you
receive.

“Adversity
could actually be used to bring my wife and I closer together. Adversity could
also be used to draw me closer to God and reliance upon Him. Adversity is not
pleasurable at the time, but it can grow us.”
Dr. David Hawkins
This challenge:
Pray with your spouse every day this week. Invite God into your marriage.
